ADELLE BUEDE
Outstanding High School Senior from Sugar Land
One Sugar Land student, Adelle Buede, stands out above the rest. Adelle graduated from The Turning Point Academy in May 2011. Her efforts have been so extraordinary that Congressman Pete Olson nominated her for The United States Military Academy, West Point.
After years of competitive swimming, she began playing club volleyball for Fort Bend Fire and for the Texas Tornados.
Most athletic students have a difficult time juggling competitive sports with academics…but Adelle is ranked in the top 5% of her class. She will graduate with honors. Adelle has been nominated for three military awards this year: The U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award, the Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award, and the Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award. She’s also been awarded an NROTC scholarship and an Embry Riddle Scholarship where, if she chooses, she can pursue Aerospace Engineering. She says, “My first choice for the future would be to attend The United States Military Academy, West Point. I can’t imagine anything more rewarding than serving my country…and receiving an exceptional education!”
Congressman Pete Olson’s honorable Nomination is one that Adelle has been working toward for several years. This is one outstanding and determined young lady for us to put our attention on. She will, no doubt, be successful in everything she does. She is an exceptional student, athlete and the ideal candidate for The United States Military Academy, West Point. Our community is proud of Adelle for her enthusiasm to serve us and our great land at the highest level.
